Enjoying Kaye's small farm in Cooroy. Learning a bit about permaculture and biodynamic living. I never knew an outdoor compost toilet could smell so good- you just cover it with hay after use. And it turns into useful soul- why do we use gross, chemical portopotties?
She has heaps of chickens (I love how everyone here says "heaps."), 5 or 6 geese (Her alarm system! She said they even squawk if she comes out wearing a new pair of shoes)- did you know you can eat goose eggs?, 3 lady goats and 2 kids - Jack and Jill. Only their mom, Francesca is milked and I haven't done it yet, but hope to learn tonight! There are 4 other workawayers here and the 6 of us spent the morning picking macadamia nuts. Can't really say pick, as we simply collected them from under the trees. I thought potato harvesting was like a treasure hunt, this is the jackpot! They have a green casing and look kind of like a lime. Inside is the hard shell. I'll have to upload photos after we go back in a few days.
I keep forgetting to write down all the things I'd like to import back to the States, so here it goes:
•Hot water bottles (Linda, there are not nearly enough wool blankets to keep me warm!)
•Round, spinning clothes dryer- invented in Oz, can't remember by whom...why do we use dryers?!
•PIES! Yum! I would weigh 300 pounds if I ate as many as I found like. Mince, chicken, smoked fish from NZ...
•Grant's herb and mineral toothpaste- it has eucalyptus and cardamom!
•Electric teapot
Sure there are 100's more, but you get the idea.

Really, not enough blankets? What a surprise!
