After spending Christams day with family in Chelmsford we took a short trip to test drive our Kombi van who has adopted the name 'Grandpa'. And if you want to really test drive a kombi van than take it to the Lake District at Christmas. Nothing like -1 degree temperatures to weed out any faults.
The surrounding scenery turns to white snow at around Penrith (we are heading for Keswick). As far as the eye can see it is white. We have ourselves a white Christmas.
The top 10 Challenges we faced along the way:

The top 10 Challenges we faced along the way:
- Discovering we have cutlery but no spoons. Thank you to the road side cafe for donating one to usJ
- Driving on snow covered roads at night with lights that couldn’t light up a small room.
- Staying warm in a van that leaks cold air in every crack.
- Changing gas bottles to discover that the second one leak out during the night.
- Staying warm in minus degree temperatures.
- Getting iced inside the van- no escape until the sun could warm to 4 degrees.
- Staying warm and not losing feeling in our fingers and toes.
- Defrosting all the windows to be able to see as we drive.
- Getting towed out of the caravan site as ‘Grandpa’ had not traction.
- Not quite making it up a hill before losing traction and having to roll back to the bottom to get enough momentum to make it over the hill.
