Kusadasi to Samos and Greece May 16

DENNIS: We got on the ferry to Samos, a Greek island, about an hour and a half away. At customs in Kusadasi, at eight am, there was a man in the lineup with a beer in his hand. I'm not sure what nationality he was but he sounded like this. "Arrg (inaudible) urrgg bloody hell (inaudible) knock your bloody block off (inaudible)" I think the little guy was looking for his pot of gold.

We were in Samos long enough to have lunch and go to the bank. For some reason I thought it would be easier and quicker to go inside the bank and get Euros, Donna did the go around the corner to the ATM and wave my crisp new Euros in Dennis' face, while he waits behind the chain smoking dude that is trying to refinance his condo in Poland.
One thing that my eye caught, was the couples of men traveling together with one common suitcase, I thought, how practical, especially if you have several Capri pants packed.

We got on the plane from Samos to Athens, the flight attendant looked somewhat like Paris Hilton doing community work.
In Athens we took the Metro from the airport to within two blocks of our hotel. 10 Euros and 50 minutes is all it took. They had racks for our luggage, and the trip was quiet until the dreaded teenage girls got on board and well you know what a pack of teenage girls is like.

Started running into parts of the gang right away. The hotel was old, of course, without Internet. They had swipe cards for the door, but a good push on our room door would open it. I didn't tell Donna that. We walked down to the Placka (might be spelt like that) the original part of Athens, with Chris and Barb from Calgary and had supper. You have to accept quickly the fact that anything in Greece is going to cost you at least 20 Euro.

DONNA: A quick ferry to Samos for lunch (we're SO cosmopolitan) and a short plane ride landed us in Athens. We were downtown in no time at all, and I was happy to run into some of my astro friends the moment I walked in the door. We went for a bit of a tour and dinner round the hotel with Barb and Chris. We could see the Acropolis from where we were. Wanda and Linda had checked in but we couldn't find them. Met up with LeeAnn and Phil for a drink before returning to the hotel.

OOOOOOOOOOOh Athens
I often have a recurrent dream I am in Athens, in the past. I won't go into detail but it includes me looking pretty damm good, baths, men, baths....

Donna, I would like a report on the size, shape and quality of the men.

Denis, your writing is a pleasure to read. You have a great comedic/detail look to life around you. Maybe a book/movie 'Denis does Athens' or 'Denis survives Donna'
