We have been camping on Hilton Head Island since Saturday. On 4th of July evening the campground had a band playing in the parking lot and then we watched the fireworks. The band was pretty good if you are into bluegrass music. We played golf on Tuesday and we are playing again tomorrow. There are plenty of golf courses on the island and they are all beautiful and most of them rather expensive. They have lots of water and strategically placed sand traps on them making them a little difficult. So far we haven't run out of golf balls although Larry is trying.
Yesterday we went sight seeing at Harbor Head and saw the lighthouse. Today we went to Beaufort which is a very old town with lots of old homes and churches. One of the churches has a cemetary around it where people from the revolutionary war are buried so there is a lot of history to the place
All in all we have had a good time here. The weather is a little on the warm side and very muggy. The way the island is laid out is unique. As you drive down the road you can't see any of the stores. They are tucked behind a forest of trees so even though you are in a busy little town it seems you are driving through a forest. There are just these little signs to tell you what store is hiding behind the trees. We must have circled the block two or three times just to find Walmart. It makes it a little frustrating when the GPS keeps telling you that you have reached your destination but you can't see it!!
