Hola de Molina!!

I arrived in Alicante, Spain  (southern Spain) on April 16th at 10:00am.  I was relieved to find my college friend Fred and his friend Rakim waiting for me at the airport! After getting up at 4am to travel to Alicante I was tired, hungry and in need of a big hug from an old friend. The drive to Molina de Segura was very interesting for me.....I did not picture southern Spain to be so dry and desert like.....I was even more surprised when we arrived in Molina de Segura. This pueblito isnīt even on maps. All of the buildings were the same color, and there were no houses, just condos and apartment buildings. Needless to say the town itself and surrounding areas were very dull and lifeless. This place is definitely not a tourist destination by any means!! Fred, Rakim and I spent the next few days watching movies, resting and hanging out. We went out on Friday night to Murcia to a small bar/club, only to find that we were a spectacle for the Spaniards. Imagine me a 5ft 5in girl walking in a club with a 6ft 6in black man, a 6ft 11in white guy and a 6ft 1in black man!!!! Unfortunately the race relations in this area are not the best, and we got plenty of stares. This club was completely packed and where ever the guys stood, an area would clear out (which I guess was kind of nice). The next day Fred took me to the beach in Alicante. The Mediterranean is really beautiful even when itīs surrounded by dry desert! We relaxed on the beach, and I even got a massage from a Chinese lady who approached us with a reflexology chart. I felt like a princess! On Sunday my flight was supposed to be at 10:30 am, but it ended up being at 10:30pm!! I went to the airport 12 freaking hours early! Instead of just hanging there I  found my way back to Molina, and made Fred drive me back again 10 hours later. Poor guy....I  finally made it to Barcelona at 1:00am yesterday. I am staying here with Sam Pack , some of you may remember her from high school. We havenīt seen each other in 5 years!! She is very kind to let me come and visit and I am LOVING Barcelona so far.  I will write another entry before I leave Barcelona to fill you in on all the fun Iīm having here ;) !!
