These pics are from my volunteer vacation at Best Friend Animal Sanctuary. My second trip to Best Friends was just as incredible as my first trip in 2008. Best Friends is spread out over several thousand acres in beautiful southern Utah. It is the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in the United States. On any given day there are over 1,700 dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, pigs, horses and other animals. All of the animals that reside at Best Friends are the victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Best Friends is a place they can go to heal and hopefully be adopted in time. Even if never adopted, the animals have a wonderful home at the sanctuary where they can peacefully live out their lives. This year I volunteered with dogs, bunnies and pigs. Hopefully I make a small difference through my volunteer efforts, if only for a brief moment in time. However nothing is more rewarding than what the animals teach me. Despite their painful pasts, they are living proof of the power of forgiveness, trust, resilience, fortitude and love. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed the experience!
