Ian departed us in Riem. A memorable event also because it took us an hour due to getting lost on numerous occasions. Ian thinks he was unceremoniously dumped. In hindsight I think he was right but French traffic and driving brings out the worst in me.

We stopped overnight at Edith and Michel's home in Jassans near Lyon. We were shown heaps of true French hospitality and Edith and Michel feel like relatives now. We checked our Michel’s magnificent cellar and I still can’t believe they constructed themselves – it has vaulted ceilings and engraved stone plaques as well as racks and racks of wine. A quick lesson on the features of their car and we were on our way to Edith and Michel’s holiday apartment in Port Camargue in their new Renault. A pity they had to see the damage I made to the hire car first. Just as well that the Avis girl didn't seem to notice too.

A quick exploration of the area upon arrival led us to 2 great towns nearby – Grou de Roi (fishing village) and the medieval Aigue Morte (I think I have the spelling correct). The bikes look like they are going to get plenty of use.
