Our flight landed in Chicago and the airport is MASSIVE. My ticket was not clear on where the gate was, so I asked a woman when I got off the flight where exactly the gate for the departure of Dusseldorf was. She had a very strong accent and told me K55, which was SO far from where I was, but I said "Thank God for 2 feet" and walked for 30 mins across the airport with my bags. I arrived at gate K55 and it said it was going to another part of the world and so I asked at they said “ohh no your flight is at gate G55” which is 30 mins on the other side of the airport. The man knew I was lost and walked me over half way there. I told him how this was my very first dose of a strong accent on my journey and I completely misunderstood her because her K and G sound VERY similar. So, I got to my gate after a long hike, got a bag or garden chips and sat there with my heart going 150 bpm. It was not long that we waited there until they started bording the flight. My airplane was HUGE and I was one of the first sections called. It was my very first time using my passport and I was super excited. When I walked up to the gate to go in the woman looked and me and looked at my passport and said “You are not going anywhere” and with a long pause she smiled and said “just kidding, but before you go in you have to sign your passport because you never have before”. I laughed along with the others behind me and went in. I had no idea which seat I would be in, so I was thinking “Please oh please not  a middle seat.” I arrived straight to my middle seat (haha). It was not a middle seat that I hated though. It was on the front row so we had no seats in front of us, only the tv, which meant we had room to stretch our legs and it was VERY spacious compared to the other seats. I sat beside a woman who did not speak my language and a man that was in his 50's and he was very friendly! He said how he usually flies business class and how those tickets are about 3000 dollars one way, but how we had one of the best seats in the plane after business class. So, him and I talked about everything, jobs, life, and he was traveling to Germany that day for bueiness and coming back that weekend. Our huge plane took off and we still continued to talk. After about 1 hour of being in the air they served us snacks and drinks and then after another 2 hours after that we got dinner. I ordered chicken, mashed potatos, bread, salad and a glass of wine. It was not too bad for airplane food and it filled me up. The man and I had a plan on what we were going to do as far as sleep. He shared his computer with me so I could plug headphones and watch “OZ” with him because the airplane had a horrible movie playing. So before dinner we watched part of OZ, ate dinner, finished the movie and tried to sleep because at that point it was getting dark. Well the plan worked for him and he went to sleep, and I sat there, unable to sleep. Our flight left at about 330 (it was delayed because the pilot was waiting on another delayed flight to arrive for the people to get on) This was the only flight to germany that day, so the airlines make sure people needing this flight can get to it in time. After relaxing most of the night it started to get daylight and then our breakfast came and I started looking at the tv screen which was always updating us on where we were, and the time we were supposed to arrive. The plane was supposed to arrive at 7:20am, but was now saying 7:50 which was terrible because my layover was only 30 mins and my flight to Madrid was leaving at 7:50. Well, this is where the trouble begins of my day. As we were getting closer to Germany, the time said it was landing 0720 ish but not to worry because the airport is not that big and I should make it to my next flight.
