This long drive had eventually brought me to the Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park. A curious combination of fossils – part Ghost Town – a fossil from the early 20th century and part palaeontologist's wet dream as it contains numerous dinosaur remains.  Unfortunately the route to the fossils was still un-passable without a four wheel drive so I had to make do with the Ghost Town of Berlin.

Actually it was much more than making do.  Once I had paid my nominal 4 buck entry fee to the helpful park ranger I was left alone to explore the town.  The park gets 10-12000 visitors a year (mostly for the old bones) but I was the only one there for an hour and it was great to wonder and consider this remote town that had once had over 200 residents but had existed for just 13 years.  It was, well, ghostly.

Once confusion I had was in regard to one of the houses which I was told is a private residence.  Hang on you said this was a ghost town not a town of one or two!  Turns out the house is used by the park ranger so mystery solved!

What I listened to.  The collected works of the very lovely Lambchop.  This is all of their albums bar the Decline and Fall of Country and Western Civilisation Part 2 and OH(Ohio) as I have yet to buy these two.  It can be a labour of love at times but three consecutive albums from the late 90s/early naughties are exceptional.  In case you need to add them to your wish-lists pop pickers look out for Thriller, What another man spills and Nixon; Is a Woman and Damaged are also worthy of a listen.
