Where I stayed
A sunny Saturday in San Fran and how this city sparkles when the sun in out – a real transformation.
I had planned to go to SFMOMA but my misanthropy kicked in and I could not face the crowds so I decided to take a gentle stroll in the sunshine. Before that we needed food and finding a queue at the nearest Lori's Diner we settled on a Grill nearby – a fortunate second choice as the breakfast was fantastic.
Leaving my brothers to their own devices I set off for Telegraph Hill wheezing my way to the top to get some views from the base of the Coit Tower. From there I went down the Filbert Steps (and down is the best way to take these) and headed out along SF bay. I had intended to head right around to the bridge but my lack of walking recently combined with my efforts to break in the Merrills from yesterday (failed - I have blisters) meant that I only made it as far as the edge of the Presidio. I got far enough to discover that the Presidio is part of a National Park – another one bagged!
Walking back was not an option so I had to brave a crowded bus – eurgh!
Off to see some more redwoods tomorrow and then onwards to wine country.
Exhilarating moments of the day: Live text updates telling me that Reading had gone 2-1 against the Baggies with less than ten minutes to play. And then, just a few minutes later on therocks.com Bognor got a penalty to draw their game 2-2. Perfect.
Downer moment of the day: The baggies getting a last minute equalizer and denying the royals a place in the QFs. Darn it.
What I listened to. Moby Play and then Moby Play the B-Sides and then Moby 18 which is after all just Play Vol 2. Great albums.
