A 6am tram ride to the railway station is how we was how we said goodbye Sarajevo and meet up with a fellow Aussie who was doing the international move your arms like a train mime to the tram driver and we all stumbled to the station. We had hope for a night train but its discontinuation meant a very, very long day train ride (did a mention it was a very long day!!!!). Still we reached Budapest late but we had a lovely lady at the hostel to welcome us in and it was really chilled out.

As our first day was raining cats and dogs so we decided do the laundry duty and got cold and wet as we tried to make the best of things in the weather. The city was as beautiful as it was 5 years ago when I visited it on my way to Australia but like most places seeing it through the rain never paints a great picture and in the end we warmed ourselves in the pub for dinner. The only excitement for the night was the tourist behind us leaving without paying....the poor server tried his best to put on the chase but couldn't reach them.....not the best ambassadors for their respective countries.

The second day the rain eased off so we tackled the castle and the palace on the Buda side of the Denube river which was great to walk up the hill and see the churches and little settlement at the top. We walked along the hill to the palace which gave great views across to the Pest side of the city. We continued to walk the streets looking at the fabulous architecture of the buildings and see as much of the city before heading off to Czech the next day.

Hopefully our next visit the sun may poke its little head out!!!
