Ciao,
I have discovered on down fall to traveling without a plan and just dropping into any city you want when ever you want. It is best to have a very comprehensive book of all areas. I wasnīt planning on Granada and arrived a little on the uninformed side of things. Wikipedia comes in hand for these occasions:

Granada - Greek: (Steph. Byz.) - Elibyrge; Latin: Illiberis (Ptol. ii. 4. § 11) or Illiberi Liberini (Pliny iii. 1. s. 3); - is a city and the capital of the province of Granada, in the autonomous region of Andalusia, Spain. It is situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, at the confluence of two rivers, Darro and Genil, at an elevation of 738 meters above sea level. At the 2005 census, the population of the city of Granada proper was 236,982, and the population of the entire urban area was estimated to be 472,638, ranking as the 13th-largest urban area of the Spanish Kingdom. About 3.3% of the population did not hold Spanish citizenship, the largest number of these (31%) coming from South America.

The Alhambra, a famous Moorish citadel and palace, is in Granada. It is the most remarkable item of the Muslim, Jewish, and Christian historical legacy that makes Granada a hot spot among cultural and tourist cities in Spain.

Granada is also well-known within Spain due to its prestigious university and, nowadays, wild night-life (though in the 1920s Federico García Lorca described the granadinos as "the worst bourgeoisie in Spain"). In fact, it is said that it is one of the three best cities for college students (the other two are Salamanca and Santiago de Compostela).

I went out last night for a few drinks and Tapus (free appetizers that come with drinks), the Tapus ranges from sausage to sandwiches and fries. People donīt go out until 12:00 for the most part and many of the clubs donīt open until 3:00, I just couldīt bring myself to going out a 3:00, even when on vacation that is a bit much for me , I lasted until 1:30 and I thought that was pretty good. As in Slyvania the younger folk get a Bottle, 2 liter and head to the park to mix their own for a few hours. I was out last night and observed this local ritual. It is a good think this wasnīt legal when I was in my early 20īs or teens, that could have been dangerous.

For those of you who made it this far you get a special treat. I needed to eat something and they had some burgers that sounded normal to me for a change (it has been 2 months) I thought it would be nice to have a burger. Anyway, as a good friend told me, if you arenīt feeling like making new friends, then go to and Irish bar. So, I went in to have a burger and before you know it I was engaged in a conversation that I wasnīt prepared to have, but was more than willing to finish. The jist of it was that the Canadians created Rock and Roll. I couldnīt really let that fly, so in short I won. Before I know it the Irish guy and his cousin have me very drunk and here I am telling you about it. The desk guy that is behind me is laughing at how much I am using the backspace key.

I guess that means I should go,

Cheers!

Dave

Hi my son
I see now that you could be a professional traveler. You may have to check with Rick Steves and get a job there. Seems like you would have enough info to write a book about resturants, deli's, bars and where to find great conversation with the locals. So glad you having a great time. I Love you, Mom
