OK, much has happened since my last posting. My last two days in Rome were the best two. My second to last day I left my camera at the hostel, I was trying to focus on finding a watch (I need to know what time it is, so I can catch trains and such). Anyway, I went back to the Colosseum and spent more time around the ruins near the Colosseum(capital hill), it was a civic center where trading, plays and other activities took place and of course there were monuments to gods. Im still amazed at what they were able to do with pure man power and a couple tools.
On my last day I was heading to the Pantheon when I noticed swarms of people walking in about the same direction. I had forgotten that is was White Night, not exactly sure what it is, but all the businesses are open, then close down for siesta then say open until around 12:00. During the day everyone goes on a monument walk (sort of like the art walk in Seattle). I just went with the flow and it appeared that every corner I rounded was another amazing sight (I brought my camera and I can upload from where I am at now). The Pantheon was open to the public and we were able to take pictures which is not normal.
I took my first of many train rides and a majority of the area I went thru was scattered with little farming towns and wonderful landscape. I arrived in Sorrento and acquainted myself with the town. It is very touristy, but my room is only $20 per night. I just changed rooms today because the last two nights my room was just above the busiest street in town with scooters racing up the street and a street light right outside the window (made for interesting sleeping). Yesterday was a beach day and I have some great photos. I will probably spend two more nights in Sorrento, I still need to see the Amalfi coast and Capris Blue Grotto and I should see Pompeii, so maybe 3 nights. I was only able to upload a few photos, the place filled up and it was taking forever to upload pictures.
Ciao

Hey Dave
I'm glad your having such a great time! A town that closes for naps, what a great idea! Love the photots, what a beautiful country!
Looks great
What great shots Dave. It makes me want to go back to Italy. I think next year I'll make that happen. I'm glad your enjoying the history of the country. Do you feel very insignificant among the ruins? One week down and 9 to go. Love you, Mom
Howdy there
