Our Memorial Day adventure is taking us back to Darien Lake Amusement Park. The last time we were there it was a Six Flags Park. It is now privately owned. They have added a few new rides and everyone is looking forward to checking them out!
I took yesterday off work to get everything packed and ready to go. Sami pulled the camper out of storage and I needed to reload. Kevin had a baseball game at 4:00 and Chris was umpiring a game at 5:00. As with all of our trips, we tend to run a little later than anticipated. Sami left the camper plugged into the truck all week and it drained truck battery. When we went to pull out of the driveway, the truck would not start. Fortunately, a quick jump and we were on our way.
We pulled out of the driveway at 9:00 p.m. We drive until around midnight and pulled off at the Junius Ponds rest area on the Thruway - just before the first Rochester exit. All four kids were asleep in the car and Sami and I were getting a little tired. It was in to the camper and off the sleep.
This morning we were up at 9:00; had breakfast at the Dunkin Donuts in the rest area and we were on the road by 10:30. Our estimated arrival time at Darien Lakei s 12:15.
We always have a great time at Darien Lake and would highly recommend staying at their campground. For those of you who do not have a camper, they have plenty of rental units there! And for those who do not camp at all, there is always the Lodge. Everyone wants to go back again.
