Where I stayed
Sunset Beach Hotel
Up by 7 am, Juliet went for a morning swim while I organized my batteries. We had a discussion about our conversation styles but no further understanding. I think I will go for a morning dip since I want to stay out of the sun as much as possible today. I got some sunburn on the tops of my legs and shoulder blades.
I went for a short swim before breakfast and then a walk after breakfast. Then I tried to rest but it got boring. I then tried to get some internet. I loaded some photos onto the netbook but the screen was hard to view so I gave up and checked out the internet next door. Both computers were in use so I hung out with Fiona, Juliet and Mel until around 2 pm. We went for lunch but they were out of chili crab that I had decided I wanted. It was hard to settle for chili prawn pizza. It wasn't that good. Maybe traveling is wearing on me...I sound restless and whiny.
All of a sudden it was 4:40 and we went to the sunset booze cruise on the dhow. There were quite a few crew members on board: one played a drum and sang the Jambo song. Others put up the sail and sailed and others opened bottles of beer, soda and the local gin for G&Ts.
After we went north along the coast and saw the bigger, fancier resort hotels, we came back down, saw the sunset & "God's Hands." I think that was special rays or streaks in the sky. I don't think I have a photo that shows it. People started jumping off the roof of the dhow and splashing in the water. Juliet jumped quite a few times but they wouldn't let her dive. Maybe it was too shallow where we were?? Fiona and I watched. Unfortunately, I ran out of battery power on my Fuji before the sunset but Fi promised me some of her and Mel's shots.
On the walk back to the hotel, we got a little lost. Around 10 pm Juliet went to the restaurant, but by then I really didn't feel like going out.
