Today didn't start with much excitement.  I woke up early and went to breakfast around 8 am.  I read and did internet stuff until around 1 pm.  Then I finished packing and came down to settle my bill.  38 euros.  The fare to the airport was steep.  I was picked up early - at 2:20 and it takes 45 min to do the 35 km to the airport from the hotel.  I guess that partly explains the high price.  I was beginning to wonder if I were being kidnapped.  Why, I couldn't guess, but no, it was just a long ride.

After trying to check in, I was told I was a day early.  I was getting tired of Amman for sure.  This is the second time I have done this.  The first time I had an excuse...it was leap year or something like that.  I did manage to get on the same flight I thought I was on...for a mere 20 euros.  Everything costs.  But it was worth it...I get an extra day in Cyprus...to make up for the 31st of April which doesn't exist.  I still had some food so I didn't need to buy any more really and the souvenirs were outrageously priced so I changed my 11 dinars and only got $15.  I should have hung on to one dinar and would probably still get the same amount.

I went to my gate but then they announced for us to go to gate 7.  It was mainly a group of women, one man, and me.  They had us wait standing outside the door for at least ten minutes until 5 pm.  Then we had to go through security again.  The men just whiz through the regular doorway but I got patted down twice in this airport.  Maybe because some of the men dressed in their flowing robes and headscarves look so dashing.  The women's headscarves don't blow around as they walk...everything pinned tight.  Once through that hurdle, we were at 7A...empty...7B ... empty...then 7 had a person to check the boarding passes.  We were up in the air, served a little snack sandwich and juice, and then down again right away.  The man sitting next to me reached over me to take a bunch of photos.  I only had a few:  the Royal Jordanian emblem and the sky over the Cyprus shore.
.
Tourist Info gave me the name of the Sand Castle hotel as being cozy but inexpensive.  It was not of the high caliber that Explore booked for us:  chilly water for shower, unpleasant odor, no elevator, funky plumbing and decor, but I had a balcony with table and chairs and a sea view!  Fresh sea air for sleeping....what could be better.   The desk clerk offered to help me with my heavy bag...I said we could do it together but she did most of the work carrying it up to the second floor.  Oh, their credit card machine wasn't working for some reason.  I remember that in India....somehow the internet wasn't working that day...or the next.

It is possible to live for several days without internet, but I have gotten used to it....just like GPS.  You forget how to find your way around.
