We left our Punta Arenas hostel after having a nice breakfast with melon.  It was raining while we drove to find the ferry to cross the Straits of Magellan.  We drove around the block several times because the entrance to the ferry was very confusing.  The ferry ride was supposed to be 3 hrs - I must have fallen asleep because it didn't seem that long.  Since I lost my watch on the second day in Torres del Paine, I have been in a timeless world.  It does make waking up on time interesting though..

We have just
arrived in Ushuaia, the end of the earth ... more or less...in Tierra del Fuego.
We went through some mountainous terrain with pointed peaks, lots of trees, many
of them dead...(I wonder why)...and lakes, streams.  When we went over the crest
of the mountains, it was very foggy...just as I imagined it to be in Tierra del Fuego. The city itself is
a port and seemed quite spread out but our campground-hostel is outside the town.
Tomorrow we go on a walk in the park and the day after I can go on an excursion
boat in the Beagle Channel.  We are here for three nights.
