Perito Moreno - the town-

is 700 km or so from the glacier but there
may be a connection.  Well, the connection is a great Argentine
historical figure named Perito Moreno.

It was a long drive from Perito Moreno to Bariloche.  We had short pee stops.  One gas stop there were no restrooms so I had to walk 4 blocks to another station to find a bano - nice walk - bad bano.  It turned out to be a lot more than 4 blocks or it was hard to tell what was or was not a block.  Then the truck stopped at my station after I walked back to it so others could use the banos.

We traveled

through a lot of the Patagonian steppe....shrubby growth with sheep grazing here

and there, some leaping guanacos and birds.  Then mid-afternoon yesterday the

landscape began to change to rolling hills with visible streams and then mountains and lakes, not unlike the

Adirondacks, but with different trees.  We began to see pines but no color

changes in any deciduous trees.  People have told us that they do change.

We drove through Bariloche to get to our campground.  The town was much bigger than I expected.  We stopped so some folks could get to an ATM.  Our campground was 11 km north of Bariloche on the lake.  Cook group #1 switched with us because everyone figured that Mel's Argentinian beef stew would take a longer time to prepare.  Group #1 came up with fish pie, veggies and, for dessert, bananas with pudding and chocolate sauce.  Ummmm, good!

I went to bed after 11 pm and couldn't fall asleep.  I kept creeping counter-clockwise and couldn't stop.  Poor Lou couldn't really figure out what was wrong with me.  And I, in my delirious state, kept thinking she was in my space....when I had invaded hers!!   It is a good thing she told me what I had been doing.  Maybe it was the chocolate sauce.
