Where I stayed
We drove from Torres del Paine National Park, stopped briefly at Puerto Natales for lunch food, then headed for Punta Arenas. The landscape was hilly, mountainous. Sheep and cattle grazed. There were pretty little ranches. Punta Arenas was a nice little city with interesting buildings, excellent restaurants. We went to have seafood - I wished I had the crab appetizer instead of the main dish because the main dish, although good, had a rather rich white sauce. We also went on a brewery tour to Austral - the most southern brewery in the world they said. We wondered if that were true. I tried all but one of their beers at the tasting. I wasn't fast enough and missed beer #2. I liked their specialty beer with calafate berries the best - the flavor was a bit different - pleasant.
In this hostel, Sarah and Hilary and I shared our room with Ben - a switch from El Chalten where I bunked with 5 of the guys!
