I had trouble finding the bathroom at night but the stars and Milky Way were incredible.  We had an early pre-breakfast departure at 6:15 am.

We drove along the coast all day for 760 km or so.  The scenery along the west was drier--less vegetation in the "fields."   I saw a few sheep and bunches of guanaco early on.  There were pet guanaco at our lunch stop.  Sarah's bruchetta di pomodoro for lunch was delicious.

This was the day that Mick developed his wonderful "San Julian" schtick.  He was asking directions to San Julian and people weren't understanding him, one man in the street in particular, so Mick repeated his question quite a number of times with variations in his pronunciation.  He also has an anecdote about asking a policeman for directions.  The policeman didn't understand him so finally Mick asked him, "Hablo espanol"?  Then the policeman realized Mick was speaking Spanish and was immediately able to understand him.  This did not occur in the quest for San Julian at this point but we did finally get directions that worked.  I thought we should have just headed for the coast and we would have to get to it eventually as long as we were heading south.

We got to Puerto San Julian around 5 pm.  We then went shopping at the supermercado..
 We camped
last night along the shore.  They had an interesting set-up for power points but not a lot of them worked.  The bathrooms were quite far away in some shed in the back of the administration building.  It was a funky place but the sunset was spectacular.

I am not sure whether this was the night that we had a group punch party with trivia contest and my group won...with little or no
help from me...I wasn't sure of many answers and 2 that I suggested were
rejected and were right...but not so many of my other suggestions were right.  We got 40 pesos apiece...more
than enough for my internet.
