Where I stayed
I finally saw some rheas after missing hordes of them during our drive. At one of our rest stops, there was a restaurant with lace curtains and
a tile sidewalk and floor. I took a bunch of photos there. It had a
old Portuguese ambiance.
Well, we have gone more than 1000 kms -- south along the coast from Paraty and then west. We arrived at Bonito around 2 pm or so - another small eco-tourist town. The town has wide sidewalks with interesting designs..
I signed up for the trip to the Blue Lake Cave for tomorrow. When I tried the internet at the hostel, I typed out several paragraphs of non-sequitirs and then hit send and the computer got an error message - all that after one half hour on the computer
I can't generalize that much about Brazil after my week here but can say that it
is a huge country with varied landscape. We have traveled through a lot of what
looks like agribusiness - huge sugar cane fields, cattle grazing, some soy beans. There are
some smaller ranches - with long driveways with orange dirt. The people have
been very nice - no one of us really speaks much Portuguese so our communication
has been pretty minimal. I thought I had some great observations to make, but
can't really remember them with all the stress of trying to get on the computer..
