Where I stayed
Verona Beach State Park
Before leaving Lake Placid we explored the are a little more. We back-tracked to the olympic ski jump area that we passed on the way in. We took a few photos and then traveled back through town where we picked up some groceries from a local grocery store before departing Lake Placid on route 86/73. The drive south is very scenic with viewings of several lakes (too many to count). There are plenty of hiking opportunities in the Adirondack Mountains. We'll definitely have to come back one day when we can spend more time in the Adirondacks. We were headed to Syracuse when we noticed signs for a state park where camping is allowed. I was happy to find a campground since we had stayed at hotels for the last 3 nights. Verona Beach State Park is on a nice fresh water lake named Oneida Lake. We arrived at the camp early enough to get in a good swim and to shoot around on the basketball court with my son. After enjoying the park amenities we had dinner at our campsite before resting for the night.
