Where I stayed
The highlight for today will be the site of the 1932 and the 1980 Winter Olympic Games, Lake Placid, NY. We arrived in Lake Placid by late afternoon. As we began to drive through the town we were able to catch a view of the various locations in the town that hosted the winter olympic events including the ski jump area and the Olympic Center that housed the ice rinks. We chose to stay at a locally owned motel, Art Devlin's Olympic Motor Inn. Art Devlin was an olympic ski jumper in the Lake Placid area. After checking in we paid a visit to Olympic Center. Both the 1932 and the 1980 olympic ice rinks are still in tact and are actively being used by the Lake Placid community. The 1932 rink was being used to teach the little ones how to skate and the 1980 rink was being used for a kids hockey practice and then a game which we did not stay to watch. The town was really quiet but that could have been because of the rain we had in combination with the fact that it is a Sunday night. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
