7/4/2010 – Destination San Diego, CA
San Diego is our destination today but
before we leave Nevada we will visit the Hoover Dam. The dam is
really busy during this time of year and the traffic can be backed up
for miles. We were really fortunate that we didn't get into a long
traffic jam. When we arrived we paid our parking fee, parked the
truck, and headed to the dam. While at the dam we learned that the
dam is already down 140 feet and is being drawn down another 3 feet
per month and there isn't any new water going in. The dam is
certainly an amazing thing to see. We walked along both sides of the
dam and took photos before deciding to get going to San Diego. We
drove across the desert via I-15. As we drove we noticed the outdoor
temperature had risen to 105 degrees and we could feel it when we
stopped for lunch.
We arrived in San Diego just in time
for the fireworks. As we were pulling into the hotel parking lot we
could see the fireworks being shot off at 2 different locations. We
decided to park the vehicle and watch the fireworks before heading to
the room for the night.
