We had a catamaran tour booked for about six hours. The bus took us to the town of Tamarindo where a small boat took us out to the big boat. It was really, really nice. The young man who is the owner of the boat told us his story of how he had gone to grad school in California to become a lawyer. His uncle convinced him to come to Costa Rica to work and he ended up staying. He has been here for ten years now, got married and spends his life taking tourists sailing. Talk about a different lifestyle!
There were about twenty of us on the boat and after about an hour of driving they stopped the boat so we could snorkel, kayak or swim. We saw giant sea turtles on the way and these really cool silver fish that jump through the water. They provided us with great customer service. As soon as we got on the boat they walked around with a tray of fresh fruit to offer us, then they walked around with a pitcher of water and then they walked around with a tray of cookies. After our time in the water they provided us with a nice lunch before we headed back to shore. On our way back the sails came out and I was lying on my back looking at the beautiful blue sky with Bob Marley playing in the background. As much as I love my city vacations I am starting to think I might be able to get used to this.
I am now starting my vigil to catch a picture of the raccoon rodent things on my patio but I don't have the cat here tonight to growl and let me know they are coming so if I stop typing all of the sudden it is probably because they are right under me and I am freaking out and running inside. I don't know how to entice them but they sure seem to find their way up here on my own. If I am not successful you can just google them for a picture.
