I left Leslie's home in Ohio Tuesday morning and rode south to a wonderful state park near the North/South Caralina border.. The park is over 1300 acres and has the nicest camp sites I've ever seen.

The ranger came by about 9PM and told me to be sure my tent stakes were pounded in well as there was a severe weather warning and we were to get very high winds and lots of rain, what else is new??? It did rain about all night but the wind wasn't so bad so I felt lucky.. My old tent leaked a bit here and there and it's time to put it in the trash or give it to some beightbor kids for back yard fun. It's been a very good protector for me for several years and lots of nights and I can't complain. Decent tents are so cheap today that it's not worth trying to water treat it as I did years ago. Next trip, I'll have a new house!!!

My dear friends in Hilton Head called and invited me to stop for a night or two since they were right off I-95. I enjoyed their hospitality and Barbara's wonderful salad plus a great night a a local jazz club.

Friday AM I was up at 5:30 and hit the road for home. I rode hard and had 300 miles in by lunch time so the total distance of 550 miles wasn't too bad but I was ready to get off when I reached the house. For some reason my home computer doesn't want to link up to Comcast so that's going to be today's battle but otherwise all is well. I love to travel and one of the best parts is coming home.

Total distance this trip was 5721 miles. Other than the problem with the bike in Portland there were no big set-backs and the experience always outweighs the down sides one hits. If you have any questions feel free to email or call.. Hope you had some of the fun that I did. Count your blessings.. DLD
