What I did
Staff Training
Hey y'all! I have arrived safe and sound in the land of Altanta, Georgia and having a fantastic time. The flight was good if not but for a few funny things like my food tray having a slight downward tilt, so keeping my food on that was fun! Also my movie/tv touch screen was off center to the left so I couldn't reach the 'movie' button, doh! TV series it was for me then, thankyou House, CSI and Castle. I had a great welcome at the airport from my USA friends who had a funny story of their own on the journey to the airport.
On arriving back on site, I felt like I was home which is a great feeling to have and a good place to start the next two months. So the next 2 weeks or so has been staff training, which has been a great opportunity to get to know my fellow staff members, find out about my job, and complete lifeguard training. The latter was intense and a worry for me but it was achievable - and I passed! Whoop! The last two weeks have been full on with planning, teaching and building relationships, so everyones is pretty exhausted and loving the weekend off before the kids arrive on Sunday afternoon.
This Thursday just gone I managed to get myself into a bit of trouble by walking into a low lying roof and gashing myself between my eyebrow and eye. So being rushed to the hospital emergency room I was to exit with a tetnus and whooping cough jab and 9 stitches. The funny thing being now is that the jab actually hurts more than my eye... go figure! I am being well looked after and sleeping a lot thanks to the pain meds, but all in all it couldn't of happened at a better time - end of staff training, weekend off, no lifeguarding to do - theres always a silver linning!
Whenever I'm at Calvin I'm in a place to grow - with the different job position I am being stretched in different ways and challenging my own ways in which I respond to things. I do love a challenge, which God knows! Anyways - prayer requests include strenght and energy to look after the influx of kids on Sunday, saftey in the pool and on the lake and a continuation of building our camp community. Thanks for reading, till the next time!
