Today, Sunday, Dimanche, I borrowed Florence's new bike and rode a backcountry lane for half an hour into the medieval city of Pons. I was hopelessly lost on my way to the Hopital Des Pelgrens and walked for maybe half an hour before finding it. Once there, I enjoyed a Gouter au jardin, light snack, provided by one of Florence's friends for around 3 euros. The description follows below. After that, I toured La Donjon and Hotel de Ville for free as part of the Journées du Patrimonie weekend. I hope you enjoy.
Gouter au Jardin Menu
- Limonade du lavande avec petals du rose rouge
a.k.a. Lavender Lemonade with rose petals
Almost more of a juice, sparkling cloudy with thin candied rose petals, the barest hint of lemon, sugary
- Sablé Camomile
a.k.a. Chamomile Cookie
Chocolate icing on a sugary dark cookie, not too soft but not as tough as sugar cookies with a confectioner's sugar layer in between, I can't tell where the flower is
- Verrine Fraise Surreau
a.k.a. Miniature Strawberry Cake w/ unknown flower
Kind of a gelatin at the bottom, the small circle of pastry, strawberry and whip cream is delicious, but so petit I finish it in two bites
- Neige de Géranium
a.k.a. light air with a hint of rosemary in a crisp bite that seems to only start and end with whip cream, the pastry itself so thin I wonder if it actually exists
