Well after such a cram-packed day as day-before-yesterday was, we took yesterday almost completely off. I slept in, took a nap, and lazed around most of the day. We did go by the marketplace (a bustling place as crammed with heat as it was with people, sarongs, fried crickets, and kramahs). Other than that, we didn't do much.

Today, I rode with Panya and Jeff to the lake. We got there and was greeted by some children selling lotus pods. Panya bought some and gave some of the seeds to Jeff and me to try. While the seeds were nothing spectacular, it was fun peeling the pod to get to the seeds. Then we lay around in hammocks on a covered platform over the lake. There were surprisingly few bugs, and it was even more surprisingly cool under there. A slight occasional breeze kept the air moving, and as the day progressed, so did the breeze until it was a fairly steady wind. After lying around in the hammocks talking for a while, we ate lunch - an entire roasted chicken. It was very good, stuffed with lemon grass and topped with a semi-spicy/semi-sweet sauce. After lunch, we returned to our hammocks for an afternoon nap. We actually just lay there for a while talking, perhaps sleeping for about 15 minutes, when we got up to go look around some. The wind had picked up quite a bit by then, so Jeff and I decided that it might be better to skip out on the boating tour of the lake. We took off again on our motorcycles and headed back to town. It was quite a long ride, but we took a different way back, so the scenery was different (same same, but different). It was a nice day - relaxed, but still seeing the countryside.

Recently I've been feeling a desire to write some fiction, so some of that may occupy some of my days in the near future. We are probably leaving Battambang day after tomorrow for Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat.
