Great Australian Bight

Flag of Australia  , Western Australia,
Monday, April 22, 2013

Today we weren't sure where we'd stop for the night as we wanted to get a couple of looks at the Great Australian Bight and we also had to pass through state quarantine at the border.

Well the Great Australian Bight is just as we remember it only of course it now caters for tourists and has a walkway to the best viewing spots.  People still can't get close enough and try to get right to the edge.  Obviously they don't value their own lives.

The quarantine stop didn't get anything from us as we'd cooked all the vegies up but the woman went through absolutely everything except our personal clothing.  Every draw and cupboard was opened.

We'd been looking out for the Squibbs all day and at about 4.00pm and about quarter of an hour out of Madura we spotted them coming towards us, well!  Doug did a U turn on the highway and pulled up behind them.  We chatted for about half an hour before we continued on to stop for the night.   Travelled about 640km's and thought that was enough seeing as we weren't in too much of a hurry.

On the way over Madura looked like a very lush and shady place from the highway but the facilities weren't a patch on those at Eucla.  The grounds weren't very well set out either, but plenty of people parked there.
