The best part about Saturday was staying in bed later than usual. I spent part of the morning hanging out in the parking lot of St. Joe's talking with my fellow Knights of Columbus. We still run an aluminum can collection every Saturday morning so some of the guys show up just to chat.
After the can collection ended at 11:00 AM, I went to the rectory with Paul, the Israeli seminarian, to chat about things. Eventually, Fr. Phil showed up and we all discussed many seminary-related topics.
I departed the rectory just before noon, because I was supposed to meet Peggy, another friend from St. Joe's for lunch. She did not show up, so after a half hour of waiting, I went on my way. I had a slice of eggplant pizza at Frank's. After the pizza, I went back to the Comfort Inn, took a nap, and watched some television.
At 4:30, I changed into my clerical clothing and headed for St. Joe's for 5:30 mass. I helped set up for mass and then I also served alongside Fr. Phil. When Fr. Phil introduced me, the congregation gave me a nice round of applause.
Kathie and Mike attended the mass, so I met up with them afterwards to head out to dinner. We ate at the 202 Ristorante on Main Street in Lincoln Park. Kathie correctly figured I might want some proper Italian food. To start, I enjoyed a nice escarole and bean soup, the soup of the day. For my entree, I chose the veal caprese, veal with cheese, tomato, and asparagus. For dessert, we split a zabaglione prepared tableside. I am glad I had the chance to catch up with Kathie and Mike.
