Begin to think about what this day will bring
Ate breakfast at restaurant next door. Good coffee and food
Asked about shuttle to Apgar; said they didn't know anything about it but said I could walk it, only 3 miles
Went back to room tried to put everything in the pack--- too much!
Found the brochure on DropBox--hooray--called for a reservation; girll asked what dai did I want it; said I am there now--she said van was on its way now because train was just coming in--God knew my plans before I did--saved me a big walk
Took pictures of the Empire Builder eastbound as it rolled into West Glacier
Nice shuttle to camground; ck was helpful
Started to walk around loop a to find a site; all were taken; I went the wrong way to get to loop C; older ranger stopped his pick up and I know he could see the heavy pack and told me about the hiker/biker sites; I said I had seen one but that it had tents there already; he said you could put more in
I finally found the way to C found a site with a very helpful guy who was just leaving; he helped me figure it out and gave me good hints about the Highline Trail
I got my tent site set up paid my money 5$ per night!
Texted Jer told her to look on the webcam for me
We made it work!
Went to river by Lake drank power aide and ate an apple
Decided to take shuttle to Logan Pass and do the Hidden Lake trail as a warmup for doing the highline on Thursday
Waited in line at transit center and then took the spectacular drive up Going to the Sun Road
I sat in the front seat of the mini-bus
Logan Pass was hopping! I walked off a bit by myself and ate a bag of Coleman gorp for lunch
After eating outside the visitor center I began the hike to hidden lake; it was a longer, steeper hike than I remembered but I took my time and kept going
Was rewarded with a scraggly goat by the trail (What a view he has
Hidden Lake looked great. Briefly saw an eagle flying across the lake but he was gone by the time I got the camera ready
Back to visitor center
Front seat of shuttle
Interesting conversation with driver; same age as me Penn State grad; interesting collection of jobs in last ten years including red cars and Antarctica cdl licenses
Back to camp; made spaghetti meal from freeze dried food; charged phone
Linked up with Jer on the webcam
Back to camp and to bed early because I wanted to do Highline and catch the hikers express shuttle in the morning that left at 7:30
