By Cassie - Today it started off cloudy and windy.  So we decided to venture out and see the island.  We drove first to Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch side of the sland, St Maarten.  This is the main shopping area.  My amazing husband bought me a Pandora bracelet.  We picked the charms as a reminder of this trip.  We also ate lunch at the beach and had a wonderful ginger mahi mahi dish.  Then we headed around the rest of the island to determine where we want to go back to.  The water is just beautiful and quite warm.  David may actually get in!  I must admit that the island is more 3rd world than we had both expected.  There are some very nice areas, but much of the island is very poor.  We are now back at our villa and David has grilled up some wonderful steaks.  Until tomorrow.......

By David - Hmmm... where do I start...  Woke up at 4:00 am... AGAIN.. (I'm so used to being woke up by our kids or George that I think my body is just on autopilot for waking up at that time.  What is there to think about at 4:00 am??  Facebook, email, car rental fiasco, sunrise, beaches..... what else?

The power went out the previous night for about an hour or so. Kind of odd but it tends to be more windy/stormy at night and more calm and sunny during the day.  Day's have been very pleasent with a nice breeze to accommodate the 80 degree temps.  As you can see, today we left our villa at 9:00 am when it was all overcast.  Within 20 minutes it was sunny and hot.  Could easily have worn a little less today.  But, overall, it was a great day...  lots of sun, fun, shopping, great food, and great company.  I love the adventure of being someplace new, getting lost, seeing new things, making decisions together, and being able to enjoy the moment, with nothing on our minds except being with each other.  Cassie's been patient with my photography and has been willing to be my subject on many occasions.

Like Cassie said, this Island is much more 3rd world than we expected.  There are nicer developments with condos/villas but, the main loop around the island is ....  interesting... We left at 9:00 this morning, drove around the permitter of the island while shopping/eating/sightseeing and were home at 4:00.  We grilled steak for dinner and relaxed.  A good day was had.

Tomorrow will be a Villa day and possibly a short afternoon jaunt to one of the 3 beaches close by.
