Where I stayed
City Homestay in Miri
Miri was one of the riches town in Sarawak. Oil was dicovered in this island many many years ago.
When we reached Miri, Robert drove us to the hotel and pointed to us a few bungalows along the road. There was even a very big house on a hill, facing the sea. The bungalows was so big that one maid occupied one lttle house.
Miri was not very big but moving around town still requires a car ride. During our stay, we did not use any taxi service and we walked everywhere on foot. The furtherest we walked to is Bintang Plaza, which was about 40 min walk away from where we stayed.
There was hardly any sight of taxi on the road in Miri. All taxi services had standard charges and all the rates were publicised at any taxi stand.
Miri had lots of churches as well, as every 400m you walked, you will see a church.
Of the places i went to in Malaysia, Miri was one of the cleanest and safest place. We could walk along the road at night without fear and you can hardly see any rubbish on the floor. Even Singapore East Coast Park lost out to the beach we went to.
Pictures of town and beach are uploaded.
