I cannot believe it........I'm back! It seems like forever since I have walked these white sands. Puerto Morelos is busy and we see many familiar faces. The Mayan Ladies from the Jungle Market all gave us a warm welcome . Rob and Joanne from Alma Libre Bookstore welcomed all the new postcards, note cards and calendars featuring vistas of Puerto Morelos created by Dive Diva. Missing so far have been Cye, doing her Tai Chi at 0600hrs on the beach, Cecilia, the French/Mexican to teach us Spanglish and a few other locals.
Bruce has experienced many 'firsts'........... his first swim in the Caribbean....snorkeling with Scorpionfish, barracuda and squid at dusk, his first mango margarita, first trip to Mexico......the list goes on! We girls also dragged him along birding and now all four of us are well and truly sunburned.....why exactly did I bring 3 hats only to NOT wear them?
Tomorrow we are on the road at 0800 hrs by taxi, hoof and bus with the goal of reaching Rio Lagartos by late afternoon. We will do more birding, snorkeling and sightseeing. Maybe fit in a cerveza or margarita or two in between activities. We have sampled the local ceviche de camerones (shrimp ceviche) and Bruce is determined to have a fresh mango margarita daily. We are managing to cram as much food, drink, swimming and sight-seeing in as possible.
The weather has been a joy compared to -17C that we left at home. One wee sprinkle of rain yesterday and the rest has been breezy and sunny and +30 C-ish. No diving yet until the non-divers head home. By Friday we will be breaking out the dive gear and planning our excursions. Not sure what our internet will be like once we are on the road so will send pics as I get connections.
Buenos Noches for now............
