This morning we visited one of the oldest communities in the OI program. This community has been involved since the early 1990s and OI's involvement was phased out in the early 2000s. Since that time, the community members have done quite well and their elementary school now has classrooms for all grades (up from one classroom). We sat through a lengthy 3 hour presentation involving several lengthy testimonies by villagers of all the things they had accomplished once they had the confidence and outside advice.

Also a part of the program were two routines performed by a dozen elementary school kids.

One interesting aspect of this presentation was the involvement of an organized youth group. The entire concept p an organized community had been handed down to the next generation. A new generation of kids now knows how to stand up for themselves and to have confidence in solving their own issues. It was quite a sight.

We had some lunch and then Matt and Harry went off to interview some villagers for a series of stories they are working on. After saying our goodbyes, we went to a nearby village to listen to a successful brass band that plays gigs all over the province. The band wasn't all that bad really. They did only play at full volume and many of the members were taking drags off of cigarettes in between measures. We listened to about four songs, but the only one I recognized was "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga.

Harry and I had dinner at the hotel and had a good conversation. After a shower I headed off for another well deserved night of sleep.
