During the thunderstorm last night, I must have tossed and turned a lot. I sleep on the L-shaped couch which turns into a bed, and last night I awoke to find myself sprawled completely sideways on the loveseat part of the L. I'm not sure how that happened but it was sure weird.

Anyway, this is Adam blogging today. We left Tracie's pretty early, after saying goodbye to her, and Ruby the dog. We had a lot of driving to do-by a lot, I mean like 500~ miles-and we wanted to get started pretty early. On the way out of Gretna, the town we were in, we stopped to get gas, and get McDonald's, and get groceries. Then we drove nearly nonstop for eight hours, except for a lunch break when we stopped so mom could cook grilled cheese.

We went from Nebraska back to Iowa-which we had been in briefly yesterday-and then to Illinois. We went over the Mississippi which was probably the most exciting thing we saw while driving. We've now traveled ten states!

We stopped for dinner at a Cracker Barrel in Ottawa in Illinois. The food could have been better, to say the least, but they had a fun little store. Dad bought moon pies, whatever those are, and I got an old-fashioned soda and some of those candy sticks. We haven't tried the moon pies yet. They had cool little games there too, like giant checkers, and that one triangular-shaped one with pegs where you have to jump one peg over the other and whittle down your pegs to the least amount possible. I'm not even joking-I got it down to one peg when I was messing with it.

We then pulled into the campground with some time to spare. Greg and I rode our bikes a bit, and played some mini-golf (I beat him), and later on I went swimming briefly. We watched a show about the states we would be going through tomorrow right before we went to sleep.

That's it,
Adam

Midwest Memories!
I laughed out loud when I read this description of your day! Your description of the Cracker Barrel (Cholesterol Barrel, as we call it) was politely perfect! You mentioned the little triangle game and the gift shop, but you forgot to mention that it is a great place for 'people-watching'! I'm wondering...did any of you order the gizzards?
When you drove over the Mississippi, did Vince sing 'Old Man River' like Chevy Chase?

Fantastic writing!
You guys are doing a great job with the blog. Mark passed along the address and we have been following along here at work. Are you getting to do any sightseeing?
