So on today's schedule is a day trip to Innsbruck, the capital of the Tyrolean region, just down the mountain and the road from Seefeld. Innsbruck is a city I've heard of, and that's about it. No one really knows that much about Innsbruck besides the Innsbruckers themselves. We first went to the Olympic ski jump, just to look at it, then back down to the coached for a trip into the city at the Aldstadt (Old City) to see the symbol of Innsbruck, the Golden Roof. Though the roof isn't actually gold, it still is a pretty stunning structure, built back in the 1500's by Emperor Maxilmillian, part of the Hapsburgs. From there we took a few steps into the world famous Swarovski crystal showplace to look around and get souvenirs. After that, we were free to explore the Aldstadt and get lunch. After eating nearby, we went around near the Golden Roof a little more, then headed to the Wilten Basilica with amazing frescoes and domes inside. We all met to head back to Seefeld after a 20 min stop at the Basilica. After all, the Euro Cup championship was tonight and I didn't want to miss that, even though it wasn't the result I wanted.
