11 months ago some kind old chap hit my stationary Renault Clio, after heavy snow had made driving an option only for the suicidal or the stupid. 3 weeks later, after protracted wrangling with the modern day highwaymen that pass as insurance companies, my beloved Clio was written off.

So it's mid-January, I have no car and an insurance cheque that will buy me:

A: A chop shop car that will get me to work and back.

B: A flight, digs and lifelong dream trip to New Zealand for 3 weeks with the added bonus of commuting to work on me bike for the next 11 months, come rain, wind, snow, rain, frost, rain, 2 days of sunshine, rain, floods, rain, wind, mud, mud, rain, mud, mud, rain, -9 degrees, rain.

No contest!

So here I am - 12 hours before I head 12000 miles to the other side of the world. Payback time :-)

Every day, every mile in pouring rain, every river of mud as I showered, every stuggle for breath in the icy dark has been worth it to be here, now. Every moment of a year driven by a single goal that's now close enough to touch. Man, I feel good.

THIS is what life is about. I look forward to sharing it with you.

Stay tuned.
