Lovely cruise on the Fjord, despite the dense low lying clouds that had descended this morning. The booking clerks for several of the cruise operators assured me that often they get this weather at the dock, but out on the sound it could be clear and bright (yeah!); but anyway, as its a dead end and a place with no amenities, I didn''t wish to hang around til the next sailing in 2 hrs time, so took a chance on it and booked the one leaving in 15 mins - just enough time to go and park the car in the official car park. The weather (which was not actually raining) cleared a bit, and having gone out to sea, on the return trip you could begin to see the peaks of some of the mountains. Beautiful nonetheless, and the pilot of the ship would run up ever so close to the cascading waterfalls - enough to get you a thorough soaking if you were standing on the bow. Real tranquility at its best!
