I wanted to get up at 630 am today but it didnt happen. Instead I woke up at 815. I was thinking about staying another day just because I felt pretty lazy this morning to move on but I forced myself to pack up and just go.

Before taking off, I went over to George's bed and said good bye. He wished me luck and also hoped I would find a nice girl along my travels. I like George. He hopes for the right things. I then made my way to the bus station. I first had to take a tram followed by a metro in order to get there.  Along the way, I ran into a Turkish guy I met a few days earlier. He worked outside a restuarant trying to get people inside to eat. I remembered him because he used a fake Aussie accent when talking to tourists. SO this is why iot was easy to remember him when he started talking to me. The guy was a bit sketchy. He talked to me for the whole metro ride and I made sure my eyes never left his as I didnt trust him.He kept rambling on about how successsful he was with foreign girls and how I might think he was a bit off because he had ADD. I was glad when my metro stop came.

When I got to the bus station, I bought a ticket for Ayvacik. My thinking was that I would figure out how to get to Berhamkale once I arrived in Ayvacik.

My bus took off at 1130. I spent most of the time just sleeping and reading. At one point I started figuring out in greater detail what places I wanted to see in Turkey and for how long as I needed to be in Iran by Sept 5 (as per the date I put on my visa application). I cut out most places that I was only planning on staying for a day. That meant removing Berhamkale from my itinerary - today's planned location. I had to ask the driver if I could get off at Ayvalik instead of Ayvacik. It wasnt a problem. I had to pay 10 liras extra as it meant being on the bus for a few hours longer. I ended up arriving in Ayvalik at 930 pm. I didnt have a place to stay and wasnt sure where I needed to go to find a decent hostel. Looking lost immediately after gettiong off of my bus, 2 locals came to help me. They pointed me in the right direction where I would find a few hostels. I walked for about 20 minutes and needed to ask other locals to help out once I found myself in a maze of narrow streets. A few phone calls were made by the friendly locals. I went to a few places but they were all full. I eventually found a great place (very Turkish atmosphere with lots of enormous pillows everywhere) to stay but it was a bit over my budget. I took it regardless as it was already pretty late.  Unfortunatley, there were no other backpackers in my dorm room.

I didnt do much at night. I was starving so I found a small local place that was still serving food. After my quick supper, I walked around the town,s main road which ran parallel to the Aegean Sea. It was very quiet but nice.

Tomorrow I will do a one day cruise and then move on.
