We have been quiet lazy in Budapest, a combination of staying a good hostel with great people, staying up to the early hours of the morning, and maybe a bit of drinking. The results of which is that we have not been getting up before at least 10 in the morning and definitely not moving before midday. So far we have missed our two planned side trips to Visegrad and  Eger, really, we don't make the most of our time sometimes.

Budapest is a great city with an amazing history, it is also very, very cheap and we are struggling to spend our money.

One of the many things on our "must do" list was the Thermal Baths. A truly relaxing experience, which made it hard to walk afterward from being so relaxed. There was only one thing that Shona really didn't enjoy and that was the sauna which reached up to 70 C, it was hard to breath and the seats burned your arse. It was crowded so really the locals must enjoy the sadistic nature of it. It also had a 16 C plunge pool outside of it just to cool off.
We went on a cool rainy day, but really that was the best time to go. The hardest thing to do was run from the warm pool outside and into the warm pool inside. It's open all year around even the outside pools. Truely a must do.

We have actually managed to make it to the Terror Museum as it stayed open until 7.30pm. It truly is a must see on any Budapest trip. It is not like any museum we have seen before. A museum of spying and atrocities in what was once the headquarters of the dreaded AVH, the secret police. The House of Terror takes you through many traumas of the double occupation of Hungary. First by the Nazi's and then by the Soviets.

Having gotten up late again after another all nighter, we decided to go and try to see the Jewish Synagogue, this was our second attempt at it as we seem to keep going when it is shut, as it does close at 2pm.
Even though we had been here before we still didn't know how much the tickets cost to get in, the ticket lady informed us that the tour cost 1900ft and started now. We let her know that we didn't have enough money, so she offered us a student discount, which we thought was very generous but we still didn't have enough. Once again the Synagogue defeated us.

Really we couldn't be bothered to get some money out so we just wandered around and found the Great Market of Budapest, which for us foodies was really enjoyable, shame we hadn't found it earlier to take advantage of it.

We have met some great people in this amazing city, and hope that no more tourists come here to destroy its appeal. One of the most enjoyable places we have been so far.

Tomorrow we head to Brasov, Romania on an overnight train (14000Ft each, 7pm), Dino is really looking forward to a good nights sleep.
