We have been spending the last few day's hiking some of the best of the lower mountain hikes Switzerland has to offer. Some of the views we have stumbled across have been magnificent. Glacier lakes, snow capped mountains (Shona's particular favorite), and the lush green pastures. The valleys harbor many small towns with mountains looming so close overhead it feels as if you should be able to touch them.

We caught a bus up to Lauterbrunnen, a tiny little town which is cluttered with many Swiss chalet and are also home to the impressive Trummelbach falls, 10 waterfalls within the mountain. From there we walked along the valley floor in the spring sunshine to catch one of the Cable cars at Stechelberg. Dino's palms were sweating and his knuckles were white. When he realised we had to catch another straight away he was not impressed. Our plan from Mürren was to see if the view from Schilthorn, the top of  the mountains with views into Germany on a clear day, was any good. With our budget and the fact that half of the view was obscured by the clouds, we decided we would rather spend our day walking the many paths around Mürren. We saw Paragliders take off from just above the tiny town and float down to the valley floor below. The hardest part of the day was choosing which view we wanted to look at while we ate lunch.
We hiked down from Mürren to Gimmelwald and as like and annonymous backpacker once put it "If heaven isn't what it's cracked up to be, send me back to Gimmelwald," and boy he was not wrong this place will take your breath away.

The hikes and cable cars in the Alps are a once-in-a-lifetime experience that everyone should do on a clear day. The views from the top of the mountains are just spectacular.

Today is our relaxing day after yesterdays Marathon 6 hour hike. From lakeside views to ridge top climbs, our hike from Interlaken to Beatenberg to Habkern has been one of the best things we have done so far along this trip. The more sensible of people chose to start from the top and work their way down to the bottom, but we wanted a challenge. God did we get one.

We have decided that if we have time we are coming back in Summer to camp.

Hopefully tomorrow in Munich depending on if we can catch a lift with a DJ.
