Turned out that I didn't have all that much time in the Big City, but I think I made the most of it, kinda. I started the day all cultural like, going to the Guggenheim, and lunching in Central Park, before going up to Harlem to see a market recommended in the Time Out guide (turned out to be dead, and mildly scary, but there you go).

I then shot downtown, by this time it was gettin hot so I retreated into a Starbucks - the refuge of refuges - and fiiinally found Luisa's number - a friend from France who lives in Brooklyn, in an area now termed 'DUMBO' which is an acronym meaning something about being by the bridges. I ended up managing to meet up for a whistle-(non)-stop of lower Manhatten, DUMBO and Chinatown. I saw her play football surrounded by the towers of the insanely dense city, and went off to get some 'bubble tea' - green tea with wierd brown balls at the bottom that I couldnt decide if I liked or not. I met some random Germans while watching the game, ate gorgious food then headed up to the East Village to meet Sam, Nick's friend, who'd I'd last seen in glorious Amsterdam.

The next morning I just went to the Rockafella Centre for a view of the city then wandered around touristy Times Square and Korea town before making the trek out to the Airport in preparation to my flight to.... THAILAND!
