Day Six was spent hanging out with Danny and Sarah in Freeport/Houston. We got up rather early, about 10am after being up really late the night before. Sarah had to be at the airport for a 4:30 flight, so we decided to go out and so stuff before she had to leave. So we went to have breakfast at IHOP first, in the absolute downpour that happened just as we were leaving, and was completely finished by the time we left. Good timing eh?
After that we drove to Randall's, a grocery chain to get a few stuffs, and to use the ATM. Then we drove into Houston and stopped at the Best Buy to do some gift shopping. It was a bit weird setting foot in a Best Buy again, even with it being so far from the one I worked at. It was almost eery how similar it looked to others in Michigan. I'm soooo glad I don't work there anymore. Anyways, after that we then went to the airport and dropped Sarah off.
Then Danny and I decided to go to the NASA space center in Houston. You remember how in all the movies about space exploration they're talking to Houston, well we went there J. It was quite a place, lots of hands on exhibits, and displays showing how things work in space. We also got to tour the training facility that had a bunch of state-of-the-art equipment and models of the space shuttle, international space station, and other simulators for aspiring astronaughts. We also tried a computer simulation of making an expedition to Mars, but after a long process of picking crew, equipment, etc. One of the crew was a terrorist and blew up the mission... Game over. I bet it was the biologist, biologists are always a bit dodgy, hehe.
It's too bad I didn't bring my camera for any of this, but hopefully Danny will go back within the next few weeks and take some pictures. Anyways, we then went out to eat at this seafood place, and had alligator (now I can say I've had croc and gator J ) which ended up being very similar to croc, though alligator seemed softer. After being sufficiently bloated, we went back to Danny's place, had a swim, looked over the map for both mine and his trip (mine obviously continuing on to Louisiana, and Danny's will be back to Michigan in a few weeks, perhaps taking a scenic route through Louisiana and Mississippi).
And now back to driving, I've got quite a bit of that in front of me now J
