---------------------------------
Roadtrip - Day Three
Mileage: 272.3 miles (1232.2 total)
Starting Location: Wardell, MO
Ending Location: Lake Catherine, AR
---------------------------------

The overnight in Wardell was a long one. I found out that I forgot one vital thing when buying supplies... Bug spray. I was literally eaten alive by every type of bug that wanted to take a bite of me. I wasn't able to sleep much, perhaps a couple of hours. But I was able to be on the Internet for a decent amount of the time I was 'killing' due to the lack of sleeping.

I started pretty early, around 9am local time, 10am Eastern. I got packed up (which took about 15 minutes) and was on my way. I didn't have nearly as much distance to cover to get to my next intended stop, since I had covered so much ground the first couple of days. I did however, make a detour to find some bug spray, which was well worth it.

I rocked up at the Lake Catherine campground at about 2pm local time, and had everything deployed by 3pm easily. This campsite was nice, because it was right on the lake, and I had electricity. The majority of the day, I took advantage of the beautiful weather, and sat outside and read "1984", which I have been trying to finish since being in Australia. I also got the opportunity to take some pictures of the wildlife. Though I was a bit disappointed, because it lacked the excitement a lot of my recent picture taking adventures did, since ducks and squirrels weren't exactly foreign or rare. But I did get some very close shots, and because I was sitting still the whole time I was there (reading) the ducks and squirrels didn't really notice I was there, and would venture very close.

I turned in pretty early (as soon as it got dark) because of being so tired from the night before. The bug spray worked wonders, and I had no problem sleeping. I also think I'm getting use to the heat. The key is not really moving or doing anything that requires actual effort. Setting up the tent is the only exception to that rule, so I made sure to take lots of breaks J

In the morning, I woke up bright and early (6:30am) right as the sun was rising, and decided to take a swim. It was uber sweet to swim while the sun is rising, because you see the sun hit the water all over the place. Plus, there was a very active fish population, and I was seeing minnows jumping out of the water, and other larger fish splashing around occasionally.

I then packed up, and started off on my way to a campground somewhere in Texas!

All for now,
-Kevin-
