Starting Location: Lake Catherine, AR
Ending Location: Lake Livingston, TX
---------------------------------

The drive into Texas was pretty un-eventful. I did get to pass through Texarkana, which I realized was a combination of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, because it sits near all three borders. I have also noticed, to my surprise that the gas prices in Texas aren't very much cheaper than what we have back in Michigan. While going through Missouri and Arkansas, I noticed that gas was about $2.79 - $2.89 a gallon. But once I got into Texas, the prices went back up to $2.99 a gallon. So either gas prices went up across the board (again) or the differences I'm seeing is the difference in the way each of these states taxes gas.

Another surprise I had, is that the heat hasn't significantly increased since I left Michigan. Even being in the famously hot state of Texas, it's only 95 degrees or so during the day, getting down to the 70's at night. I'm guessing the difference is that this is the temperature that Texas has all summer, and the weather we had in Michigan was a 'heat wave' that everyone was complaining about. And I must say, it isn't particularly uncomfortable, but I suppose I'm a bit temperature flexible.

In terms of specifics, today hasn't been too exciting, more of the same... driving, camping, getting eaten by bugs (or ants this time). But hey, I'm still having fun, which is what counts! Tomarrow I get to meet up with Danny in Freeport, TX, which should prove exciting!

Until next time,
-Kevin-
