So Maury (a fellow AustraLearn student) and I made plans to go on a daytrip on Wednesday, since neither of us had class (yay for that). We decided to go to the Nan Tien Temple which was absolutely insane. The place is gigantic, and extremely peaceful, especially considering that it is in the middle of a very industrial area.

We walked around the temple for over 3 hours, just checking out all the sculptures, artwork, and temples on the grounds. There were tons of them! We also got to step in, and meditate, which was extremely cool (even though it was annoying taking off your shoes every five minutes when you got to the next room, hehe).

Eventually, we got to go up to the pagoda, which is where they store the cremated remains on the grounds. It is something like 7 stories tall, and each of the rooms is insanely big. Also, from there we were able to see a bunch of Wollongong, because the grounds were up a hill/mountain, and the Pagoda was the high point of the Temple grounds.

After walking around, we stopped into the cafe thingie at the base of the temple, where they had meals and beverages. Since it's a buddhist temple, everything was vegetarian (which rocked, though I didnt get any food). But I did get to have Lotus tea! It was really good, and it was really energizing. Hopefully that won't be the last time I can find it, though I believe it may be a bit on the rare side. I'm sure I'll be able to get back to the Temple before I leave, as it is extremely close (it's inside wollongong, but barely).

Thats all from Nan Tien, stay tuned for the upcoming trip to Sydney on Saturday!
