We've been home now for about 2 weeks and still I think about our tour everyday.  Our experience in Maebashi was incredible.  Our host families were so warm, welcoming and generous.  Marilyn's dream came true and she was able to visit Ikebukuro.  Many students went to Tokyo Disney Land, others went into the mountains for a weekend onsen (hot spring) trip.
Lunch at the Maebashi West Rotary Club was a real treat.  Afterward, we visited Shikishima Park's Rose Garden. It was really beautiful.  Upon return to Kyoai Gakuen, we caught the tale end of a talent contest/show and heard two amazing violinists, and a really talented student teacher perform on piano. After school, we went to the tea ceremony club and watched the students practice the intricate steps associated with preparing tea.
Other field trips included a visit to the Prefectural Building in Maebashi including a beautiful view from the 38th floor, a visit to the Kannon (diety of mercy) in Takasaki, Mount Haruna and Ikaho.  The day before we left, we went to a craft village called Takuminosato and made hand-made paper and dyed a hankerchief with aizome dye.
The sayonara party was really fun but a little sad too because we knew we'd be saying good bye soon.  A group of girls from Kyoai performed a really cute dance and then the Olathe group sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", " America, the Beautiful" and a very lively rendition of the theme from "The Prince of Bel-Aire".  It was well-received, I think.
Please take a look at some of our photos and check back soon for more comments and highlights and more pictures from the traveling students.
