Our goals for today are modest - a trip to the Sant' Ambrogio Market and another shopping foray for the girls.  We start out the morning at what will become a favorite neighborhood watering hole for us - Bar Mingo.  It's a small multi-purpose establishment (a tabacchi in Italy) right up the street from our apartment.  In the morning you'll see locals (including us) gathering there for a quick coffee and sweet roll, at lunchtime having a sandwich, or throughout the day just reading the newspaper or catching up on gossip.  At the end of the day this again becomes a gathering spot to have a coffee, a glass of wine or a cocktail before heading home for dinner (which we did more than once).  In addition, they sell all kinds of stuff like lottery tickets, bus tickets, and multitude of other "grab-and-go" items - kind of like a civilized "7-11" without the gas pumps.

After a morning jolt of cappuccino and sugar, we head off to the nearby Sant' Ambrogio Market to buy some food items for tonight's stay-at-home dinner.  There is an enclosed part of the market as well as an outdoor section.  The enclosed part has more permanent market stalls that offer freshly made pasta, cheeses, meats, and specialty items while the outdoor area has temporary stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and a variety of other goods.  We look around a bit and buy our goodies for the day - some fresh pasta, some sausage, some fresh bufala mozzarella, and some tomatoes as well as prosciutto, melon, strawberries, and cherries.  We can't wait for dinner tonight!

Also enclosed within the market is a small restaurant called Trattoria da Rocco.   They offer a daily selection of various pasta, meat, and vegetable dishes as well as fresh salads and desserts, all to eat in or take away.  We decide to eat in and try the roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, baked eggplant, and mixed salad.  Not bad for around $25 for three of us, including wine!  For the rest of the afternoon, the girls head back toward the leather market at San Lorenzo while Ron wanders back to the apartment to drop off the groceries and catch up on some blogging.  The girls are very successful (what would you expect!) in their shopping efforts, especially Kaylan.  She was able to finalize a deal on a stylish leather jacket with a rather good looking shopkeeper who called her "Shakira".  They had fun doing the deal and Kaylan ended up with a very fine tailored jacket!

We reconvene for the evening at Bar Mingo with some sweets that the girls picked up along the way home and then head upstairs to start supper. The fresh pasta with sausage, tomatoes, and cheese makes for a delicious, satisfying meal. Tomorrow is a new day of adventures!
